Fiji
Fijian crafts and activities
Make a Fijian underwater Diorama
Because Fiji is made up of a
groups of tropical islands,
tourism is a large part of the
economy in Fiji.  One activity
that people do when they visit
Fiji is snorkeling or scuba
diving.

I made a underwater diorama
and researched some of the fish
that would be found in the
Fijian area.

Find out what fish are found in
Fiji!

I used craft foam, markers and beads to
make my diorama.
Tropical fruits in Fiji
Because Fiji is made up of tropical islands, the
Fijian people eat lots of tropical fruits.  Some of
the tropical fruits grown and eaten in Fiji are
bananas, pineapples, star fruits, guavas and
papayas.

Try making a Fijian SWAP by creating tropical Fijian
fruit with craft foam.  I used some colored foam, but if I
didn't have the right color, I used white foam and
colored it with markers.
Activity idea:

Try going to a
specialty grocery
store to see if they
have any of these
fruits. Try making
a tropical fruit
smoothie!
Make a Fijian Tapa cloth
Tapa cloth is a bark cloth that is
made in Fiji.  Tapa cloth plays an
important social role. It is given as
gifts to people on special occasions.

I made this Tapa cloth by crinkling a brown paper
bag so it would look like bark.  Then I colored it
and spread it out again.
