Turkish Tiles play a large
role in Turkish culture.
This type of art can be
traced back to the 8th
century.  Lots of the tile
you would see in Turkey
would be blue and white
with a little bit of Red.

Try painting your own
Turkish Tile! I purchased
an inexpensive tile from
the hardware store and
painted it with craft paint.

Turkish Evil Eye

The Evil eye is a symbol of Turkey. This symbol goes
back over thousands of years. In  Turkey, you will
find that this symbol in jewelery, over houses and on
clothing.

When worn, it is believed that this guards people
from "not- so- well meaning people" that might have "
Evil eyes"

This Symbol is derived from the concept " eye for an
eye" and is blue because blue was believed to be
able to soak up negative energy.
Above, you will see a Evil eye

The term Shish Kebab comes from Turkish
words literally meaning "skewer" and "roast meat,"
and it is a signature Turkish meal. Kebabs were a
natural solution for nomadic tribes. Unusual meats
were marinated not only to tenderize, but also to
give the meat a better flavor.
I made this Shish Kebab craft by using foam beads on a
skewer. You can also make a smaller SWAP by using a
toothpick.
